The purpose of the church is outlined
clearly in Mark 16:15 when Christ gives us the mandate, “Go into all
the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” Without this foundation
for evangelism, the church would simply be another social organization focused
on events and good works. But when we share and show the love of Jesus Christ
in our home, our community, our town and city and to the far reaches of the
earth, we can be witnesses and we can make disciples.
Prayer is the force behind fulfilling the great commission. The Lord assures
us in Psalm 91:5 that “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.” When
we seek the Lord’s direction and blessings on us as we witness to others,
He will bring the Harvest. Through prayer He will give us wisdom and many
doors will be opened to share the gospel.
The power of effectual, fervent prayer together with an aggressive approach
to fulfilling the Great Commission is the catalyst that will bring about an
awesome revival in these last days.
